environmental science

ES student ako this sem dahil ito ang napili kong natural science. kasi nga di ba? freshie ako, so kelangan naming mag nat sci for two sems. anyway, ang saya pala ng ES. andami ko nang natutunan di tulad ng last natsci ko, physics! (love ko pa naman sana ang subject kaso walang kwenta teacher ko last sem!)
alam niyo ba na marami pa la tayong mga katangahan bilang mga Pilipino? well, not really pero may mga bagay tayong hindi pinagiisipan ng maayos at mga desisyong hindi masyadong "smart". anyway, may nuclear power plant tayo sa bataan aka Bataan Nuclear Power plant. we pay $155,000 dollars per day for it and we will do so until 2017 (i think-di ako sure sa stat na to). tapos di man lang natin toh nagamit?!?- not even one watt.. sayang naman masyado yun! it was completed by 1984, just years before marcos was overthrown. actually one of the major projects nga siya ni marcos eh. anyway, na overthrow na nga siya and ol pero hindi na right o sane ang pabayaan ang project na to.. we can obviously use it as a major power source. may mga arguements naman daw ang mga tao tulad ng fact na itinayo raw ito sa isang fault line. apparently the engineers of this project knew about this problem and they have made enough measures for the structure to withstand any geological activity. in other words, di naman siguro sila ganun katanga na pabayaan ang problemang to noh? and the thing is, ang mga nagreklamo? they're not even scientists! just people who were against marcos and who despised the structure so much because it symbolized the marcos regime. but is that enough to waste billions of money?!? i dont think so.

anyway, becasue of ES i also saw this movie-An inconvenient truth. may extra credit kasi kaya we had to watch- well, di naman we "had" kasi di naman talaga required pero we had to watch. anyway, because of it i learned an awful lot more about global warming! and daming effects nito sa environment at sa atin.. grabeh talaga.. and its quite sad that there are people who would not dare believe it. kahit may evidence na nga, naghahanap pa rin sila ang lusot to twist the facts such that it will go to their advantage.. its really sad and what's more sad are the consequences we will soon face if we do not act upon this problem.. i wrote a review about it- read my review corner. and if you can, please do watch the movie.
