Part 1: The Beginning
im pretty sure all of you would like to know the details about the little surprise party we had for the now LADY Catherine Danielle Bella..
il try to make it as detailed as possible..
it began on the last week of november.
Tita Cynthia, Cathie's mom, came here to manila for a conference. Then little did i know, i was in for the biggest task--yet of my life.
She told me to plan the SURPRISE birthday party for cathie! My friends would know how i hate planning even in projects (although i end up doing so) much more, planning a PARTY?--a SURPRISE BDAY PARTY..
although truthfully, i have been thinking of what grand thing i can do for Cathie for her 18th birthday. I knew she hated formal events and she definitely made it clear she does not want to have a debut party.
But i really want her to have a special and memorable party because it is and will be her 18th birthday. So, technically, i had no choice or rather i chose not to choose. SO the venue, the time and the food was
already arranged by tita cynthia. Now, all i had to do was plan the party.
I wracked my brains out for ideas for the next week.. the first thing i thought of was to ask the people from Cagayan de oro to give their birthday greetings via video! So i immediately contacted jerika and
ed to help me out.
the next thing was to think of was the guest list. Since i pretty much do not have any prior experience in planning a party, tita cynthia would help me out every now and the then.
on the tentative guest list:

-marlon
-mike

3. cathie's blockmates
-anna
-angel
4. cathie's relatives

-tita
-cuzin
since the party was going to be a "small" one these were the only guests i could think of. Although we can accomodate at least 15 pipol, i thought 12 was enough (10 pipol+ cathie and i makes 12).
so the xuhs pipol were easy to invite since i have all their contact numbers. Tita took care of telling the relatives. now, the main problem was to tell her blockmates. I knew her blockmates because
cathie has introduced me to them. I have also heard quite SO much about them since they were the frequent GIMIK buddies of cathie (while i make tambay sa dorm).. so, i had to come up with a plan
to talk at least one of them for the invitation. The only time i can find one of them was before my PE class because her PE was just before mine. After mustering enough courage, i told anna the details
and asked her the favor to tell angel. I gave the invitation at least a week before the party.
the other thing i had to think of was how to surprise her.
i thought of asking help form her two blockmates, anna and angel, but its a sunday and im not even sure they would really come. so the only thing i could think of was to ask help form tita cynthia. the plan was
to have his uncle fetch her here so that she could spend the weekend with them. then they would just have to return her here on sunday by 7.30pm and they would just have to eat dinner at the old spaghetti house
(a resto beside our dorm) where we would all wait to surprise her.
but there was one more tiny little problem- the decorations. i am absolutely not creative especially in the decor department. i know the basics but i know and admit it would not be so aesthetically valuable.
plus! i had no one to help me out. i wanted to ask help from the other xuhs pipol but i just cannot find time to ask them and i also thought it would be too bothersome for them. so, i let it out of my thoughts
for a while and concentrated on my studies (haha!).
but to tell you the truth, i have NEVER NEVER EVER felt this deppressed in my entire 7-month stay here in manila. I felt kinda alone and pressured. although nobody was pressuring me, i know just quite how
hard it is to please maam cathie. because you know, this--planning a party-- is absolutely not one of my fortes, it is kind of hers.
then in a twist of fate and what i considered to be a miracle, a certain WENGY-louin came!!!
i was so relieved! i was so relieved i was beginning to be happy and excited for the whole thing!
with that, i already had a partner in crime! ghad! i was so relieved.
