pinanood namin tong movie na toh dahil may extra points siya for our ES (environmental science) subject.. anyway, kinda lengthy siya kc umabot yata kami ng two hours watching it.
basically, the movie talks about the journey of former US vice-president Al Gore and his crusade in increasing awareness on the issue of global warming in the states and the rest of the world.. so, in other words, educational talaga ang movie.
i knew/know that global warming is a major environmental problem. palagi naman kasi siyang minemention ng mga science teachers ko since high school. pero hindi ko talaga naiintindihan kung gaano talaga kalala ang problema at kung paano ako naaapektohan nito. alam ko lang, umiinit ang panahon at umiitim na ako lalo.
but this movie, enlightened me. andami palang effects nito sa environment and eventually for all of us.
our glaciers are melting na pala. the alps and the himalayas are losing its grandeur because the ice is melting and because the alps and himalayas is the major freshwater source of about 40% of the entire planet's population, in 50 years, these people will experience MAJOR water shortage.
umiinit na ang waters natin. lalung-lalo na ang oceans. another reason why our polar caps are in danger (and the cute polar bears-scientists have found dead polar bears who died of drowning kasi they cannot find ice, nagmelt na kasi). Im no expert pero from what i understood, increase in water temperature will also lead to more typhoons and hurricanes; meaning more catastrophe. tapos, melting of the polar caps can increase the water level around the world up to 20 feet. Ibig sabihin, baka kailanganin natin ng bagong model for the world map and globe, alot of countries can be erased from the face of the planet and Philippines could be one of them.There is a lot you can learn from the movie about all these things.
im no expert in climate and global warming but this movie sure is.. you guys better watch it..
